The saxhorn is an instrument of the brass family, and more precisely the tubas (a smaller version of Adolphe Sax's small tuba, basically a valved bugle). The saxhorn comes in approximately seven different sizes, and paved the path to the creation of the flugelhorn. Today, it is widely used in concert bands and orchestras, and was the precursor of the modern euphonium. Its range is baritone, sometimes even lower.
